I CAN'T WAIT TIL YOUR MINI SESSION...IN THE MEANTIME, HERE'S SOME INFO YOU'LL NEED TO KNOW...
I work from home and set up my studio space in what once was our dining room. It has amazing light! I love to use soft neutral white, creams and grays. On occasion I will add in small pops of colour, but I don’t like anything to distract too much from the baby, so I try to keep things simple and pure. I don’t use many props besides hats, headbands, blankets and wraps, and using beautiful soft textures to enhance the pure beauty that is your baby.
When you arrive I will have a selection of wraps, textured layers and bowls etc for you to choose from that we will base the session around.
WHAT TO EXPECT
try to keep the studio very warm to keep the baby warm & comfortable. Newborns can lose their body temperature quickly, especially when
unclothed, so we need to assure they are kept warm at all times. You may want to dress in layers so that you are comfortable as well.
Please know that babies pee and poo on everything and you don’t need to worry. I have plenty of wipes and pads on hand and everything is washed after each session. There will be a noise machine running to help soothe the baby. Feel free to sit back, relax, read a book, or even take this opportunity to take a nap yourself!
The session will go for approximately 1 hour, with baby wrapped for most of the session. We will be photographing baby either awake or asleep, so long as they are settle and happy we will get some beautiful images for you.
After the session if we have time, we will quickly look through the images I have taken and you can choose your 6 images, which I will later edit fully for you.
PREPARING FOR YOUR SESSION
The night before - Some babies will sleep for 5 or 6 hours during the night, and although this seems like a great thing, it is not ideal for our session. They will arrive very awake and very hungry. So please try to keep to a 3 to 4hrly feeding schedule the night prior to your session. They will be much more restful and content if you do this.
the morning of the session - please try to have baby awake at least an hour prior to the session starting. And have them fully fed right before you leave home for the session.
pacifier - If you have a pacifier please bring one. I have sterilised “soothie” pacifiers here for use during the session. These have been found to be the most effective in soothing and helping newborns to latch on easily. Even if you aren’t thinking you will want to use a paci, the short amount of time we will be using one should not affect any habit-forming behaviours for your baby. My goal is to help keep the baby happy and calm during
extra bottles - Whether you are nursing or bottle feeding, having extra bottles and/or milk is suggested. Some babies tend to eat more than usual during their photo sessions. It’s best to be prepared!
